MIGUEL POVEDA

Cantaor (singer) MIGUEL POVEDA, is a rising star of Flamenco.  Born and raised in Barcelona, Poveda combines a thorough knowledge of the old masters' singing tradition with a personal and elegant expression.

Since 1993, Miguel and his company of four musicians and dancers have conquered Europe and Japan with their work. They won first prize at the coveted 33rd Mines de la Unions Flamenco Competition in Spain.

Miguel Poveda’s powerful, natural voice expresses deep emotions, while his refined staging brings the art of Flamenco forward to a new and contemporary expression.

 Miguel Poveda will return to New York in January, 2006
for his debut at Jazz at Lincoln Center following a sold-out event at Carnegie Hall (February 2005).
